Margaret Atwood

The Centre for Canadian-Australian Studies was honoured to welcome internationally renowned author Margaret Atwood who delivered the second annual Annual Canadian Studies Lecture Series on March 9th at the Wollongong City Gallery. Margaret Atwood read from and discussed her recent Booker Prize winning novel The Blind Assasin to a crowd of over 350 people. So many, in fact, that an overflow room, with a live video feed had to be set up in an adjoining gallery! There was so much media attention for the event that a freelance Media Consultant had to be hired.

Her talk in Wollongong was an overwhelming success, and the Centre's Director, Gerry Turcotte, thanked Nortel Networks for their generous and long-standing support of the Centre, the University, and the region.

Ms. Atwood's talk along with a collection of essays will be published as part of the Annual Canadian Studies Lecture Series.
