Orientation Week 2010

O-Week 2010 carried on from its successful inauguration in 2009. The week was full of students, staff, colour, fun, entertainment, information and a warm hearted welcome to all new and returning students.

O-Week saw just under 3000 new students attend orientation sessions across three days, working with faculty based ‘O Hosts’ and faculty based staff. The students participated in faculty activities like the ‘Its a Knock Out’, ‘Kick Start Festival’, ‘Welcome to the Fun House’, ‘A Day in the Park’, Dive into Education’, and the ‘Socially Innovative Commerce Program’.

The O-Week Festival on the Duck Pond Lawn hosted almost 1000 new students each day.  The festival included attractions for the entire UOW and wider community, including ‘Bollywood at Sunset, and ‘Comedy on The Duck Pond Lawn’ featuring Axis of Awesome and Wil Anderson.  The three days also included street theatre, music, food, clubs and societies, stalls, games and give aways galore.

The atmosphere on campus during O Week was vibrant, friendly and exciting. The success of this year’s program is a tribute to faculties, divisions and students who worked hard to deliver an integrated and student-focussed welcome and orientation program.  To all those staff and students who were involved with the development, planning and implementation of our successful welcome to the newly enrolled 2010 UOW students, the Orientation Team say Thank You.
