The Alumni Network and the Alumni Chapters hold a number
of events for alumni throughout the year. These events are
held at the University of Wollongong unless otherwise stated.

24 April, Dubai Chapter 'Connecting with People'
seminar
This informative seminar was conducted by Knowledge Management,
a leading trainer in Dubai. The speaker, Ashraf Sheikh, specialises
in providing comprehensive start up consulting services to
Dubai companies. He explained the do’s and don’ts
of networking.
12 May, Dubai Chapter Careers Workshop
A careers seminar was held for all UOWD alumni and students.
The speakers covered topics such as how to find a job, what
employers look for, CV writing and interview skills. This
was followed by interview practice and individual resume advice.

14 April, Breakfast Seminar
'Insights and Ideas in Leadership' – David Morgan Williams
from DMW group was the guest speaker.
21 April, Commerce Business Alumni Network Award
Awarded to Alessandro Frino, BCom MCom, and presented at the
Commerce Faculty Prize night. The prize is awarded to a graduate
who demonstrates qualities of leadership, personal, professional
or academic success, innovation and creativity, and community
spirit.
3 November, Breakfast Seminar
'The Wave Generator at Port Kembla from Invention to Implementation' Dr Ray Alcorn from Energertech was the guest speaker.
Education Alumni Chapter
10 June, Mentored Interview Program
The Mentored Interview Program is a mock interview that prepares
Education students for the official NSW Department of Education
and Training (DET) Personal Suitability and Graduate Recruitment
interviews undertaken in their final year of study. 46 Secondary
and Primary school Principals volunteered their time this
year to contribute to this valuable program.
23 June, Education Alumni Prize
The Education Alumni Prize is awarded to a Bachelor of Education Honours student for a research proposal of significance to school education. The 2005 Education Alumni Prize was awarded to Amy Webb.
29 July, Centre for Education Leadership Breakfast Seminar
Senator Connie Fierravanti-Wells was the guest speaker, and talked about her preparation for leadership.

Doing what's BEST' a context and imperative for planning schools - Roger Pryor, President of NSW Primary Principals' Association was the guest speaker.
Engineering Chapter
7 April, Engineering Chapter Prize Presentation at
the Engineering Prize Night
The Engineering Chapter award a prize to an Honours student
from each Engineering department. These prizes were presented
at the Engineering Prize Night.
Campus Chapter
3 May, Campus Chapter Prize Giving Ceremony
The Campus Chapter operates the Alumni Bookshop situated on
Northfields Avenue (Cottage Building 119) directly opposite
the UniCentre entrance . Through proceeds from the Bookshop,
the Campus Chapter provides $6,700 worth of scholarships and
prizes annually to UOW students. These scholarships and prizes
were presented at the Prize Giving Ceremony.
Alumni Network
2 June, Cancer Research Afternoon Tea
The Office of Research and the Office of Community and Partnerships
hosted an afternoon tea to thank local donors and alumni who
donated to cancer research through the 2003 Annual Appeal.
23 September, Physical and Health Education Alumni
Award
Awarded to Leah Mentz, and presented at the Faculty of Education
Awards Ceremony. The prize is awarded to the student with
the highest mark in EDUP355, Curriculum Perspectives and Issues
in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.
28 November, Domayne Discount Evening
Domayne Warrawong along with the Alumni Network hosted a special discount evening for alumni and staff.
19 December, Alumni Network Christmas Cocktails
Chapter Committee Members and Alumni Life Members were invited to attend the Alumni Christmas Function. All Chapter Committee Members were presented with a Committee Member lapel badge. The Distinguished Service Awards were presented to Wilma Furlonger (Campus Chapter), Pat Dean (Campus Chapter), Kerrie Eyding (Education Chapter), Craig Heidrich (Commerce Business Network) and Justin Bensley (Commerce Business Network), for their commitment and service to the UOW Alumni Network.
