Indian Ocean Tsunami

The UOW Alumni Network would like to express its sympathy and support to those who have been affected by the recent Indian Ocean Tsunami. The University of Wollongong's Associate Professor Ted Bryant is one of Australia's leading experts on tsunami and his expertise was called upon by news outlets around the world at the start of this year. University of Wollongong Library

Alumni Library members can now access electronic resources from their own computer! The attractive new membership package available to graduates includes access to the popular ProQuest 5000 database suite and over 5,000 full text journal titles. Join and make use of our extensive collections to borrow books, CDs, DVDs and more. Our expert staff are on hand to assist you. More information

 

Commerce and Business Alumni Award for 2005

Do you know a UOW Commerce of Graduate School of Business graduate who demonstrates the following qualities: leadership; personal, professional or academic success; innovation and creativity; and community spirit? Please help to honour his or her achievements by nominating them for this award. The winner in 2004 was Melinda Chatfield BCom (1997) MCom (Logistics) (2004), the Operations Manager at the Australian Health Management Group, the president of the Illawarra Chapter of the Australian Teleservices Association and a member of the UOW UniCentre board. Free Public Lecture: The Day the Ocean Moved’ - The Story of the Tsunami Disaster in Indonesia

Professor Stephen Hill, Regional Director of UNESCO in Indonesia, will speak from first hand experience about the impact of the tsunami on that country at a free public lecture at 6:30 pm on Thursday 21 April 2005. Please RSVP quickly as places are limited. More information

 

Visiting the University

Short-term parking is available at the University in the following areas: the upper levels (Level E and above) of the Multi-Storey Carpark or the 2 hour parking, Pay & Display ticket bays, in the Ovals Carpark, Monday to Friday 8.30am 6.30pm. Parking is free for the first 20 minutes, charges will apply after this. Public transport is also available to the University.

 

Alumni Bookshop

The Alumni Bookshop has now reopened in 2005. Opening hours are:

Tuesdays 10.30am to 2.30pm

Saturday and Sundays 1.00pm to 5.00pm

Located on 119 Northfields Ave, across from the University of Wollongong UniCentre entrance, the Bookshop sells an extensive range of second-hand books at reasonable prices including textbooks, non-fiction and fiction. Proceeds from the Alumni Bookshop contribute to scholarships and prizes for students at the University of Wollongong. More information
