Breakfast Seminar for the Centre for Educational Leadership at UOW
‘Beginning leadership a view from parliament’
Senator Connie Fierravanti-Wells will speak on preparation for leadership. The breakfast is being held on campus at Food Re Thought in the McKinnon Building on Friday 29 July 2005 from 7.00am, cost $20. Book your place

Free Public Lecture
An upcoming public lecture to be held at the University of Wollongong on Monday 1st August will explore the link between the advertising of alcohol, cigarettes and fast food to kids and teenagers and so called “lifestyle diseases”. International social marketing expert Professor Gerard Hastings from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland will present the forum aimed at parents, teachers and health professionals. Contributions to Alumni ‘Still Achieving’ Webpage
The Alumni Network webpage is being updated to include a new section ‘Still Achieving’, which will provide advice for alumni on aspects of career and lifestyle. We are seeking contributions from alumni on the topic of ‘Changing Careers’. So if you have changed career path we would like to hear how you successfully made the transition and any advice you can provide to fellow alumni thinking of changing careers. Email alumni
Federal Government announces Wollongong’s key role in $12 million new Centre of Excellence
The University of Wollongong’s research record is going from strength to strength with the announcement of the University’s pivotal role in a $12 million Australian Centre of Excellence in Electromaterials Science. The Centre will tackle some of the biggest challenges facing society – enhancing human health, renewable energy and sustainable industries. Full story

UniMovies
UniMovies provide state-of-the-art screenings of popular mainstream and limited release films for the University community. Graduates and University staff run every screening of UniMovies on a voluntary basis. Admission is currently $3 for pre-purchased tickets or $3.50 on the night of the show. Upcoming movies
