Celebrating Community Connections
The Celebrating Volunteers function on Friday 5 August highlighted the importance of voluntary service by community members, alumni and friends of the University. It also included the 2011 Chancellor’s Awards for Voluntary Contribution, presented by Chancellor Ms Jillian Broadbent AO. For voluntary contribution to the University, the recipients were the Illawarra Committee for International Students (ICIS), pictured above with Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) Joe Chicharo and Mrs Gail Grant.  For voluntary contribution to the community, the recipients were Mr Gordon Streek and Mrs Kay Dalmain. UOW Council Elections
Elections to the membership of the University Council will be held in September and October of this year. You can stand as a graduate member, or vote to elect a graduate to represent the alumni community on Council.

SBS Sydney Campus Official Opening
The SBS Sydney CBD campus was officially opened on Wednesday July 27 by NSW Treasurer Mike Baird. He was full of praise for the new facilities and the prime location. Read more

60th Anniversary - Share your UOW love story
The ‘Share your Story’ theme has been very popular during the University's 60th anniversary celebrations. We've received a number of heart-warming stories about alumni who met their significant other whilst studying at UOW.

Career Ahead – Speed Interviewing Program, Thursday 20 October
The UOW Alumni Network will be hosting its annual Speed Interviewing program on Thursday 20 October.  Current students undertake a series of mock interviews to prepare them for life after graduation with you, our alumni, acting as their interviewers. If you are available between 2pm and 7pm on Thursday 20 October and feel comfortable providing feedback register at the Career Ahead website.

Wollongong Teachers College Reunion 1964/65
The class of 1964/65 is holding a reunion in Wollongong on the 5th and 6th November. Please register your interest with Liz Crawford (nee Elizabeth Kelty).

Faculty of Informatics Alumni Dinner
The Faculty of Informatics held an Alumni Dinner at the Innovation Campus recently, attended by over 70 alumni and friends of UOW. The purpose of the evening was to further develop a network of Informatics professionals delivering closer relationships between the Faculty, the student cohort and Industry. Mr Murali Sagi from the Judicial Commission of NSW provided the main address.
