$77,000 Donation for Child Obesity Research Centre
Private health fund, Australian Health Management (AHM), officially donated $77,000 to UOW’s Child Obesity Research Centre (CORe) to assist in the development of the Centre’s Time2bHealthy Program. Full story

Wollongong Council General Manager Speaks on Emerging Opportunities in the Illawarra
UOW graduate and General Manager of Wollongong City Council, Mr David Farmer, was the guest speaker at the latest Commerce and Business Alumni Network breakfast. Mr Farmer who graduated from UOW with a commerce degree in 1987, spoke about his perceptions on emerging opportunities in the Illawarra and his ideas on innovation in business. Read full story

Your Vote for UOW’s Future
Thank you to all those alumni who participated in the 2007 University Council Graduate Member election. Registered alumni elected two graduate members to represent the interests of all alumni. In accordance with Schedule 1(8) of the University of Wollongong By-law 2005, the Returning Officer declared candidates Ms Kelly Knowles (4 year term) and Dr Stephen Andersen (2 year term) elected. The University Council is responsible for developing the strategic and business directions which guide the future success of the University.

UOW Chemist Wins Prestigious Research Award
Dr Stephen Blanksby is the first UOW academic to receive the prestigious Rennie Medal which has been presented annually since 1931. Presented by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, the medal is a ‘young thrusters’ award for achievement in chemical research. Read more

Graduate School of Business - New Degrees from 2008
The Graduate School of Business has extended its portfolio of professional master programmes and will be offering three new degrees from 2008: the Master of Business Coaching (MBC), Master of Project Management (MPM) and Master of Retail Management. The School is also reintroducing its Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) which will be on offer part-time at the UOW campus and full-time at the Sydney Business School. Further information
