Thumbs Up to New Way of Changing TV Channels
The days of scrounging around sofas searching for hand-held remotes will soon be over thanks to a ‘wave of the hand’ technology developed at UOW. The all-seeing wave controller is the brainchild of Australian scientists Dr Prashan Premaratne of the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering and ANU PhD student Quang Nguyen. Help Breakdown the Barriers
The UOW Circle of Visionaries have already donated over $20,000 in 2007 towards dementia education and training programs and students in need, but we need your help to reach our target of $30,000. Your gift will help our internationally-renowned dementia centre improve the quality of life for Australians living with dementia, and help young people who are disadvantaged by financial hardship, carer commitments, ethnicity or disability. You will receive a tax deductible receipt and 100% of your gift will go directly towards these vital projects.

The exhibition, ‘Aurora: Extraordinary Visions of Antarctica’ is a collection of photographs taken by scientists and technicians who live and work in the Australian Antarctic Territory. ‘Aurora’ is visiting UOW’s Science Centre and Planetarium and will be on display from early August until the September school holidays.
