Governor Welcomes UOW’s First Medical Students
The first students of the new Graduate School of Medicine were officially welcomed by the Governor of NSW, Her Excellency Marie Bashire, AC, CVO, at a special ceremony, attended by over 600 people, on 29 January. Read full story
UOW Alumnus Recognised for Excellence in Electrical Power Engineering
Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) graduate, Ian Kennedy was awarded the 2006 Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year Award. The award recognises individual excellence in the field of electrical power engineering within six years of graduation. Full story
Library Undergoing Major Facelift
Work has begun on an $8.4 million extension to the UOW Library. The project aims to create a flexible design to accommodate changes in learning styles and library services. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Rob Castle believes the renovations will have major benefits for students. More information and pictures
UOW Alumni Census Prize Winners
The winners of the Alumni Census competition are Edward Muston for the $2000 travel voucher and Matthew Tonini for the $1000 travel voucher. Congratulations to both winners and thank you to all who completed the Census.
UOW Campus Walking Tour
The Office of Community and Partnerships (OCP) invites you to participate in a walking tour of the Wollongong Campus on Tuesday 13 March. The tour will include an inspection of the latest art exhibition and brief talks by various academics. For more information contact the Community Relations Coordinator on ocp@uow.edu.au.
Public Lecture: Island Biogeography and a Mysterious Disappearance: The Strange Tale of the Hobbits of Flores
The first Uni in The Brewery series for 2007 will be held on Wednesday 7 March at 5.30pm. Professor Mike Morwood, Professor Bert Roberts and Dr Kira Westaway will discuss Homo floresiensis and common evolutionary trends on islands. Full event information

Contributions to Alumni ‘Still Achieving’
The Alumni Office is seeking contributions on the topics of starting your own business, postgraduate study, work/life balance and working overseas. These contributions will be used for the alumni website section, ‘Still Achieving’. This section showcases articles from graduates about career and lifestyle issues.
