Pre-Arrival Information

Welcome to UOW Living! We look forward to seeing you in residence. On this page you will find helpful information which should help you be organised for your arrival.

Online Induction

UOW Living has an online module which is required to be completed before you move into your residence. Your residence-specific login details will be sent to you via email, so please ensure you check your email regularly (this includes checking your junkmail folders just in case they land there). If you do not receive this email, or have problems logging in, please contact your residence office.

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with this years' handbook, as it contains important information about your rights and responsibilities as a member of the UOW Living community.

Campus East

Arrival time:

9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. If arriving outside of these times, please contact staff prior to arrival.

What to bring: 
  • Linen (towels, sheets, doona, pillow, pillow slips)
  • Important documentation (you birth certificate, medicare/health cover card, prescriptions and any medication you take)
  • Computer (internet cables may be purchased from the front office)
  • Power board (must be Australian certified and have surge protection)
  • Australian approved adaptors (for those coming from overseas it is best to purchase these when you arrive in Australia)
  • Bicycle, helmet, and lock
  • Blu Tac (not sticky tape or thumb tacks)
  • Cutlery, crockery, and storage containers
  • Cooking utensils, pots, and pans
  • Surfboard, beach towel, and sunscreen
  • Small bar fridge (unless you are in A to D blocks)
  • Desk lamp
  • Laundry basket, clothes hangers, pegs

Arrival time:

10am onwards on the first Sunday of contract

9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Any times outside of these please use the phone at the front gate and call 4252 8244 where student leaders or staff will assist you.

Kooloobong Village

Arrival time:

9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Please advise staff prior to arrival or if arriving on a weekend.

Location map: 

 

What to bring:
  • Pillow, bed linen (refer to above bed type) and towels. If you have already purchased these online via the shopping cart in the Accommodation Portal, it will be available for you upon arrival);
  • Computer, laptop, cables, etc.
  • Small electrical appliances including toaster, kettle, hair dryer etc;
  • Cutlery, crockery (plates, cups, bowls etc.) and cooking utensils;
  • Washing basket, coat hangers;
  • Optional: Study lamp, torch, radio, alarm clock, computer, TV, radio/stereo, and headphones.

**Please note- if you are staying in a shared unit at Kooloobong Village, you may wish to wait until after your arrival to discuss the purchase of some shared items with your roommates**

  • The Live Out Loud Program (events and activities based on the principles of positive psychology)

  • Laundry facilities (washers, dryers and ironing boards);
  • Indoor/outdoor barbeque facilities;
  • Meeting/study room facilities;
  • Sound proof Music Room;
  • Gratitude Room (repository for pre-loved items, available for re-use by all students);
  • Community garden;
  • Snack, drink and amenity vending machines; and
  • Undercover car parking (available online for purchase, check on the Accommodation Portal for more information), including off-site options. There are limited spaces so be sure to get in quick!

If arriving on the first Sunday of contract arrival is after 2pm. General office hours at Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Otherwise, if arriving outside of these hours, please contact staff prior to your arrival.
