Web-based learning (WebCT Vista)

WebCT Vista is a web-based learning environment which is used to supplement the student learning experience. Students can view their subject outline, read and contribute to discussion, view their lecture notes, access quizzes, submit assignments and use a variety of online resources specific to their subject.

To establish and access a WebCT Vista site, users must have a valid UOW staff or associate account.

A guide to each teaching space

Use this webpage to check the features of a room before using it.

The site provides you with photos and a full list of equipment (eg: overhead projectors, computers, video systems and external AV inputs) and seating capacity available in each teaching space on campus.

Borrowing audio-visual equipment

Use the equipment available to enhance your students' learning experience.

A range of audiovisual equipment is available to borrow for teaching and learning purposes. Some items include: TVs, VCRs and DVDs, PA Systems, laptops, microphones, video cameras and overhead projectors.

Available to: Any student or member of staff with a current university identification card. To make a booking go to Bldg 20, Ground Level. - For session bookings you can see the Online Booking Form (staff only).

Cost: Majority of borrowing is free, but there are some instances where a fee is charged.

E-readings

Use this service to place readings online for students. The Electronic Readings Service facilitates the centralised management of digitised readings and ensures readings are copyright compliant and students have the essential resources they need. Students can access readings via the Library catalogue or WebCT.

Available to: To all academic staff and their students. For all submission requests please use the E-Reading submission form. (.pdf)

Recording lectures for the Internet (eduStream)

Reach students at satellite campuses or provide any student group with access to previously recorded lectures.

eduStream records lectures and learning materials for students to access through the internet. Audio recordings, PowerPoint slides and other visuals can be included.

Available to: Academics by arrangement. Students can access lectures at home (using their own internet connection) or at Wollongong, Bega, Batemans Bay, Shoalhaven, Moss Vale, Loftus and Dubai campuses.

Video conferencing

Video conferencing allows people to meet and share information in different locations, without having to travel.

This tool enables you to broadcast and receive live video and audio by directly linking two (or more) parties.

Available to: Staff involved with satellite campuses and for local, interstate and overseas video conferences.

Cost: Teaching related video conferences involving the South Coast, Moss Vale and Loftus are free of charge. For uses other than teaching, charges will apply. For a price list see: Video conferencing price list.
