Employer superannuation contribution arrears remediation summary

UOW has been working with Deloitte to identify, validate and remediate anomalies associated with superannuation contributions for some past and current staff, for the period since 1 July 2009, as per the Vice Chancellor’s advice to all staff on 5 April 2017.

Due to system and process requirements there are two key periods for the remediation of employer superannuation contribution arrears for current employees:

  1. 1 July 2009 to 15 December 2016

  2. Contribution arrears from 1 July 2009 to 15 December 2016 were paid to your current accumulation superannuation account in July 2017, as per the letter from Sue Thomas you received in July 2017.

This payment was made up of:
    i) the contribution arrears for 1 July 2009 to 15 December 2016
ii) Interest on those arrears paid up to 15 July 2017 when UOW lodged Superannuation guarantee change statements with the ATO
iv) Interest on the contribution arrears paid through the UOW payroll system on 15 June 2017 (see below).

  3. 16 December 2016 to 1 June 2017

Contribution arrears from 16 December 2016 to 1 June 2017

This payment was made up of:
iii) the contribution arrears for 16 December 2016 to 1 June 2017 shown in your payslip of 15 June 2017, which were paid to your current accumulation superannuation account.
