| Criteria: |
The scholarship is based on educational disadvantage as determined by information provided with the application, and at the interview.
The following students are eligible to apply:
- students experiencing financial difficulty
- students with a disability
- students from a rural and isolated area who have relocated to attend UOW
- domestic students who have relocated to attend UOW
- women studying in Engineering and IT
- and/or indigenous Australian students.

Children of Alumni Scholarship

- The scholarships are open to full-time or part-time students, who have at least one parent who has received a degree from the University of Wollongong.
- Selection is based on academic achievement based on recent academic records.
- Applicants will be required to provide the name of the parent who attended UOW, their name/s used while attending UOW, details of the degree obtained by the parent and the year of conferral.

Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship

Applicants must:
- be Australian citizens or hold Australian humanitarian visas
- be undertaking an undergraduate course of study as Commonwealth Supported students at the University of Wollongong.
- meet the low socio-economic background criteria and be enrolled as full-time students (unless there are exceptional circumstances that prevent the student from studying full-time).

Community Contribution ScholarshipsThe scholarships are offered to 2 students in Informatics and Creative Arts and 1 student in Education.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in the Informatics, Education or Creative Arts discipline.
Applicants will be required to show a demonstrated contribution to their community such as evidence of leadership and participation in other areas, such as sports, the arts, school or community activities.

Community Sponsored ScholarshipsThese scholarships are provided by community groups to assist students during the duration of their degree and are offered over a range of faculties.

- In some cases, community groups that are specific to a town or region will offer scholarships to students who have completed their HSC (or equivalent) and have lived in that specific area as determined by the applicant's postcode.

Community Sponsored Scholarships (Regional Education Centres)The scholarships are awarded to students who have gained admission to study full-time at the relevant satellite campus, and who reside in the local area and meet the Community Scholarships criteria. These scholarships are supported by local organisations and community members.

The scholarships provide between $500 and $2,000, either for 1 year or for the duration of the course.
- Batemans Bay offers $500 to $1,000 for 1 year.
- Bega offers $500 to $1,000 for 1 year.
- Shoalhaven provides $500 to $2,000 for 1 year.
- The amount provided by Moss Vale varies.

Selection is on the basis of: recent academic achievement; motivation, interests and attitudes (particularly in relation to nominated career path); communication and interpersonal skills; and evidence of leadership and participation in other areas such as sports, the arts, employment, school and community activities. In some cases, community groups that are specific to a town or region will offer scholarships to students who have lived and completed their HSC (or equivalent) in that specific area.

Equity criteria include - but are not restricted to - low income family background, living in a rural or isolated region, having a permanent disability, recently migrated from a non-English speaking country, indigenous Australians, etc.
Applicants are required to complete a questionnaire on social and/or financial disadvantage. This questionnaire will be mailed to applicants after the closing date for scholarship applications, and will be kept confidential.

Equity and Merit Scholarship (Loftus Education Centre)This scholarship is for a student studying a Bachelor of Science Education or Bachelor of Mathematics Education at the Loftus Campus.

Applicants must be studying either a Bachelor of Science Education or Bachelor of Mathematics Education.
Selection is based on:
- academic excellence based on HSC performance or equivalent
- positive motivation, interest and attitude towards high school teaching
- communication and interpersonal skills; proven interest in mathematics and/or science
- demonstrated social, cultural or economic need; or residence in a rural, isolated or outer-suburban environment.
Applicants will be required to complete a questionnaire on social and/or financial disadvantage. This questionnaire will be mailed to applicants after the closing date for scholarship applications, and will be kept confidential.
