What you need to know as a Teaching Academic

Q1. How does my role fit in with the University's strategic objectives?

The University is committed to providing its diverse body of students with an engaging, internationally-oriented learning experience which equips them with the knowledge, skills and qualities needed for success at university, in society and in the workplace. Specific objectives and strategies for achieving this are contained in Goal 1 of the University Strategic Plan 2008-2010: "Excellence and innovation in learning and teaching". Within this goal are five broad objectives relevant to your role as a teacher:

  • Graduates equipped to contribute to society and the workplace
  • An active, collaborative and flexible learning experience for students
  • Quality programs relevant to the evolving needs of students and the community
  • An international focus in learning and teaching
  • High quality teaching

The University Strategic Plan 2008-2010 identifies key strategies to achieve each of the above objectives, and in addition, your faculty will include specific measures to achieve these objectives in its annual Faculty Plan.
