Information for Visitors 2009
Alternatives to Driving/Parking:
Visitors should consider using public transport before driving a car to campus, such as:
- Park and Ride to the nearest Railway Station catch a train to North Wollongong and catch the FREE shuttle bus to Wollongong Campus.
- NEW FREE Wollongong CBD Shuttle Bus. The State Government has announced a new service to start in early 2009 linking UOW to a number of locations around Wollongong CBD. Buses will travel in both directions around the following route:
- Main Campus
- TAFE
- North Wollongong Station/International House
- Weerona College
- Wollongong Hospital
- Wollongong Station
- Central Business District
- North Wollongong Beach
- Innovation Campus
- Campus East
- Main Campus
It will run 7.00am to 10.00pm weekdays and 8.00am to 6.00pm on weekends. Weekday services will operate every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon peaks, and every 20 minutes in the middle of the day and evenings. Weekend services will operate every 30 minutes.
When implemented, this service will, most likely, replace the UOW campus shuttle buses. There will be further publicity announcing the start of this new service, or check with http://www.uow.edu.au/about/transport/
Members of the public, external business or commercial agents, or visitors attending the University may:
- Rideshare "Free 4 Three" - Arrive at the Short-term Parking Station between 8.00am and 3.00pm with a minimum of 3 occupants in the vehicle, for FREE all-day parking.
- Access the Short-term Parking Station for hourly or daily parking.
- Obtain free 30-minute parking in the Parking Station, hourly rates apply after 30 minutes.
- Access any Pay & Display parking bay where tickets are machine dispensed on payment (UniCentre Carpark, South-Western Carpark, Western Carpark).
- After 4pm Only - Northern Carpark 2P Ticket Bays are available. Ticket machine becomes active at 4pm. Purchase ticket and park in any bay.
Ticket parking - Warning to drivers
A fine may be issued for vehicles:
- Not parked in accordance with signs and posted conditions.
- Exceeding the expiry time shown on any ticket.
- Displaying an expired ticket.
- Not displaying a valid machine dispensed ticket.
- Exceeding any posted time restrictions, e.g. 1P.
