Accommodations Global Highway  

 WHERE

Various Outdoor venues, starting at the Uni Bar, operating from 9am - 5pm 

 WHAT

Organised by students staying in UOW residences, Global Highway celebrates the diversity of nations residing on campus at UOW. A highway of stalls, with each stall representing a country will be set up. At each stall, participants can take place in an activity or watch a performance that represents the country.
Collect your Global Highway passport and have it stamped at each activity for a free T-Shirt.


Security Guide for International Students Launch + talk by UOW Security Service Wollongong Local Police  

 WHERE

Kemira Rooms, Uni Centre Building 11. Starting at 3pm

 WHAT

Come along to find out about a Safety Awareness Guide for International Students that was developed between UOW Security Services and Wollongong Local Police. The afternoon will include a talk by both UOW Security and Wollongong Police and allow you the opportunity to ask questions over afternoon tea at the end of their talk.

Wollongong Symphony Orchestra Free Concert - Music with an International Flavour  

 WHERE

Duck Pond Lawn Stage, Starting at approximately 12.20pm to 2pm

 WHAT

Come along to enjoy a FREE performance by the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra of Music with an International Flavour.
Carlos Alvarado, the conductor, has a Columbian/Russian background and the music will feature a range of International composers, Spanish Guitar, Flamenco Dancing, Singers and a Pianist.
Between 12.20 and 2pm there will be two sets of approximately 30 minutes each. IT guarantees to be a great event so please come and enjoy!

Engineers without Borders - Appropriate Technology Display

Jugglers Lawn (just East of the Duck Pond lawn)

Showcase of Technology that can be made to do useful work, like cooking or sanitizing water, at an affordable cost and using local materials, in ways that do the least possible harm to local communities and the environment. 


UIC International Links Grants Announcements

 WHERE

Theatre 2 in Building 20 from 12.30 to 1.30pm 

 WHAT

The University Internationalisation Committee (UIC) is offering international support to UOW Academics with the development of the International Links Grant Scheme. The primary objective of the Scheme is to support, on a competitive basis, high quality research and teaching proposals that will significantly enhance links with an overseas institution.
At this event, some recipients of the 2007/2008 scheme will give a brief introduction to their research and their International Partner.

 

Cake Stall hosted by the Library

Come and satisfy your sweet cravings at a Cake Stall hosted by the UOW Library. Cakes are expected to sell out fast so make sure you don't miss out! 
All Money raised on the day will be used to support Books in Homes Australia, a not-for-profit charity implementing a positive reading and mentoring program helping disadvantaged children from disadvantaged communities to improve their literacy so they can create greater opportunities for themselves later in life.

Faculty of Arts Student and Staff Association (FASSA) Inaugural AGM

 WHERE

Arts Building (19) Courtyard at 12.30pm

 WHAT

FASSA (Faculty of Arts Student and Staff Association will hold their Inaugural AGM. All International and Domestic students doing a BA/BCM or subjects from the ARTS faculty are invited to attend.
Students will be invited to vote in their committee at this meeting.
A Barbecue will also be held at this time.


FASSA Launch Party

 WHAT

The newly elected committee will be announced at the Launch Party and the newly appointed President will make their inaugural speech. All International and Domestic students doing a BA/BCM or subjects from the ARTS faculty are invited to attend.

Study Abroad & Exchange Information Session - EUROPE

Study Abroad and Exchange Office will be running an Information Session for students interested in International Exchange to Europe.
Information will be given and returned UOW exchange students and students from overseas currently studying at UOW will share their tips and experiences.

 

Theatre Society Performance Skin For Skin

 WHERE

Torture is a dance and death is a game in Skin For Skin - a complelling new performance piece written, directed and performed by students from the Faculty of Creative Arts.
Skin For Skin conceptualises the innate brutality and mobid morality of human nature and the corruption of the human condition that comes with positions of power. Language means both nothing and everything as the audience is inspired to feel, think, reflect and act. Includes explicit Language, strong themes... and skin.
