Simulation Game "Basti Life"

"Basti Life" is a simulation game written and used by TEAR Australia, a relief and development organisation.

As part of the International Week, are you willing to
take the challenge
and
survive the slum?

Become an urban Indian family and explore issues of poverty and justice in an Indian basti.

Basti Life is a realistic and highly interactive simulation game that focuses on some of the dynamics of poverty in a modern urban slum. Players take the roles of families and experience some of the forces that shape people’s lives.

The Challenges:
Make paper bags!
Negotiate prices!
Buy food, pay rent!
Overcome disease!
Dodge the fire and the flood!
Celebrate weddings!
Pay for education!
Survive!

Through your experience playing the game, understand some of the complex causes and effects of poverty.

Hear about the Make Poverty History campaign and how to speak up for justice.
