Role and Operations of CEMWP

The Working Party meets regularly (four times a year) advertising the dates early and soliciting information and requests from the campus community on issues that are of concern to the community.

  • To monitor the implementation of the recommendations presented in the Environmental Management Committee's Final Report.
  • To ensure effective circulation and distribution of environment management information within the campus.
  • To provide a conduit between the campus community and Administration on issues and initiatives relating to the management of the campus environment, i.e., provide a focal point to receive, evaluate and recommend action on ideas proposed by the campus community. A system is needed where people who have good ideas are able to have them assessed and then (if shown to be practical and beneficial) implemented.

Occasionally meetings focus on a specific topic of current interest, e.g., lighting, water use, recycling, etc.

Recommendations from the Working Party are forwarded to relevant units on campus for consideration and implementation. Reports from each meeting and recommendations requiring action from the Executive are forwarded to the Vice-Principal (Administration) for presentation at appropriate meetings (Senior Executive, Deans, Planning and Development).

The operations, membership and role of the Working Party are reviewed annually.
