Which Bin? - Paper Bins

Items that do belong in the Paper Bin:

High Quality Paper such as

• Photocopy and printer office paper
• Letterhead paper
• Envelopes (without windows)
• Post-it notes
• Shredded Office Paper

High quality paper will be recycled to its fullest potential into high quality paper products, such a recycled content print paper, if you use the Paper Bins (Blue wheelie bin).

Lower Quality Paper products such as

• Newspaper
• Cardboard
• Glossy paper
• Manila folders
• Coloured paper
• Telephone books

Lower quality paper products can be placed into the blue wheelie bins if you do not have access to a recycling  bin.  This is because the paper products that are placed in the blue wheelie bins are sent to Flagstaff paper to paper to be sorted.   All the paper products that are placed in the blue wheelie bins still get recycled but the difference is that it is not sorted here at UOW but at another facility.  The high quality paper is bailed and sent off to be recycled into high quality paper products.  The lower quality paper is bailed and sent of to be recycled into lower quality recycled paper products.   Therefore the environmental outcome is still the same as if you put it in a recycling bin.

Items that do not belong in the Paper Bin:

• Books  (donate them to a charity)
• Tissues, serviettes
• Paper towel
• Binders and plastic covers (these need to be removed first)
