2009 Campaign Theme: "Turn over a new Leaf"

In 2009 the ESI team have launched the “Turn over a new leaf” campaign. The slogan aims to remind staff and students to consciously move away from old approaches and move toward a newer, more environmentally sustainable way of living. 

How do I use the theme?

• The "Turning over a new leaf" theme is about being innovative. Everyone has a habit of doing things a certain way (for example putting water bottles in the bin with the lid on!). Embodying the turn over a new leaf theme is about trying something new...something different...something environmentally friendly!

Team Motto: R⁴ - Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

In 2008 the ESI team began using the R⁴ - Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle messaging. Although many variations exist, UOW have chosen the simple R⁴ approach where we encourage you to think about things in 4 simple steps. 

How do I use the motto?

• The R4 motto is about tuning your mind into four key factors that will assist you with environmentally aware decision making.
  An example is given below.

        Rethink.....  Do I really need to drive my car?

        Reduce.....  Do I need to have all this power turned on?

        Reuse.......  Can I use this water out in the garden?

        Recycle.....  Am I using a recyclable product?
