Local Aboriginal Centre benefits from Community Exchange program

UOW Commerce students presented a marketing plan for the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation as part of the new UOW Community Exchange program in November 2008.

The UOW Community Exchange program works as a ‘matchmaker’ to link not-for-profit community groups to resources at the University, providing students with an opportunity to enrich their learning experiences through participation in the broader community.

Five UOW students worked with the Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation as part of their third-year subject at UOW, Marketing Strategy. The students developed a marketing plan to assist Coomaditchie in becoming a sustainable and self-sufficient artists’ cooperative.

CoomaditchieThe Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation (CUAC) was established in 1993 and since that time has provided an opportunity for dozens of young Aboriginal people to benefit from training and find employment.

More than 20 people attended the celebrations, including representatives from the Faculty of Commerce, Office of Community and Partnerships, students and Coomaditchie artists. The event also coincided with an Art Exhibition.
