UOW Living BeBops to the Fabulous Fifties Prom Night
250 students and staff bopped away the night on Friday 11 May when they attended the UOW Living 50’s Prom Night.
A lot of fun and enjoyment was had with students and staff coming from Campus East, International House, Keiraview, Kooloobong, Marketview, Graduate House and Weerona College. With costumes ranging from bobby socks and pigtails to greased hair and Buddy Holly, the crowd had the 50’s look covered, and it was good to see so many of the students and staff dress to the theme of the night. No prom night is complete without the crowning of Prom King and Queen and this year, Ninan Mathews from Kooloobong was Prom King and Nicole Fetchet from Marketview was crowned Prom Queen. Nigel Pennington, General Manager, Accommodation Services, welcomed all to the evening and crowned the king and queen.
Guests were entertained by Circus Monoxide with Heidi Hoop expertly swirling the Hoola Hoops, while other guests showed off their surfing skills on the mechanical surfer. The Fairy Floss, Chocolate Fountain and Photo Booth proved to be very popular, but the music and dance floor was where the real action took place.
Once again, the staff from Marketview and Keiraview did an excellent job in organising another Ball for Accommodation Services, with special thanks going to Mary Sparks, Sophia Lothian, Adriana Michell, Eleanor Smith, Liz Mendygral, Erin Hutchison and Brent Michell.
These annual balls are an important event in the Accommodation Services calendar, as many students at UOW Living don’t get the chance to meet the students in the other residences.
The ball provides an ideal opportunity for all of the students in residences to get together on a social basis.
