I am a Professor of Applied Mathematics (Level E) in the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics at the University of Wollongong.
I am the director of the Mathematics and Statistics in Industry Study Group Conference (MISG). The next meeting will be held at UOW, 27th-31st Jan. 2009, (MISG2009) . The MISG conference is an industry clinic where industry partners have their problems solved by the conference delegates. This type of conference has a wide and successful history around the world, see (MIIS) for a list of current and past meetings. I am chair of a selection panel for the DEST Endeavour Awards . There are many categories of awards, involving scholarships, research fellowships and professional development.

I gained a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Adelaide in 1988 and have published about 60 research papers and have also successfully supervised nine Masters/PhD students on various topics in Applied Mathematics. My ISI citation summary shows 47 articles, with 240 citations and a Hirsch factor of H=8.
