Sydney-based group Chaika has released its second CD "I Monti". For information and a video of the title piece go to Chaika's web page. Two members of Chaika have also released their own disc -- go to the page Laura and Susie. Here is an excerpt of a review of "I Monti": "To say that these guys are talented would be an understatement...The track begins with a throbbing double bass followed by a wailing clarinet and then vocalist Susie Bishop sings. It's a haunting melody.. The whole effect is mesmerising, as is much of the rest of this outstanding CD."--Michael Morton-Evans in Fine Music FM

On September 9th, 2011, a conference was held at the Catholic University in Ružomberok, Slovakia, in honour of the life and work of the Slovak-Australian mathematician Igor Kluvánek (1931-1993), pictured. You can read a copy of the paper "Igor Kluvánek: his, life, achievements and influence in Australia", given there. You can also read some Igor Kluvánek quotations. As well as covering Igor Kluvánek's achievements in research, also discussed are his exposition of mathematical ideas, his philosophical and religious writings, and his personality.
